The temptation to call this piece, “Hello, Dalai” was almost too much. This is the second in the series of Guys Who Do (or Did) a Pretty Good Job, and definitely what I was talking about earlier, concerning more complex pieces.
The stone in front of the picture frame is Jasper, which stands for determination, The lapis of the mala and the stone to the right of the picture frame represent royalty. For all of his unassuming nature, Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, is Buddhist royalty. And a more determined man you will never meet.
