As of January 27th we\u2019d had 847 gun deaths THAT YEAR (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gunviolencearchive.org\/\">http:\/\/www.gunviolencearchive.org\/<\/a>) So begins the \u201cLegacy\u201d series. At this point, I have several other concepts for paintings \u2013 women\u2019s healthcare, fossil fuels\/pollution, legal drug abuse, transgender rights and species extinction. A far cry from what I usually paint, but something I feel strongly about.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">After this piece had been painted and entered and accepted into a national art show in Washington DC, the father of the child decided he didn&#8217;t want the piece shown. Despite the fact that the father had been present during the entire photoshoot and had even given input on possible weapons for the child to hold, he claimed that he&#8217;d never given his consent and sent a cease-and-desist order to myself and the gallery in DC. For that reason, a pixelated photo has been taped over the face.
